What it is and why it matters
The Vedic chart represents the output data in Indian astrology systems: Rash, fragment chart, nakshatra and calendar indicators. It is needed when your practice uses these rules exactly.
When to use it
- To move from the usual wheel to the Indian show.
- To explore D1 and D9, nakshatra, panchanga or ashtakavarga.
Terms explained
- Varga
- A divisional chart in the Vedic tradition, calculated according to rules for dividing zodiac signs. D1 is Rashi and D9 is Navamsha; they are different representations of the original coordinates.
- Nakshatra and pada
- A nakshatra is one of the 27 sectors of the sidereal zodiac. A pada is one quarter of a nakshatra. Both are used in Vedic tables and periods.
- Ayanamsha
- The angular offset between the tropical and selected sidereal zodiacs on the chart date. Different ayanamshas can produce different sidereal positions.
- Panchanga
- Five Vedic calendar factors: tithi, vara, nakshatra, yoga and karana. They describe different divisions of solar, lunar and local daily cycles.
- Ashtakavarga
- A table of scores by sign, assigned from the positions of seven planets and the ascendant according to the method’s rules. Bhinnashtakavarga shows the individual sets; Sarvashtakavarga shows their sum.
- Dasha
- A sequence of planetary rulership periods in the Vedic tradition. In Vimshottari, the initial sequence and remaining period balance depend on the Moon’s position.
Where to find it
Techniques → “Individual chart”.
How to use it
- Choose a South Indian or North Indian style and the right varga: D1, D9 or another.
- Set ayeamsha, middle or true node and method of calculating bhav.
- In the graha table, see longitude, nakshatra, fall, rulers and dignity.
- Below see panchanga, bhina- and sarvastacavargus and the Sandhi table.
Settings and options
Select an option to learn how it works and when to use it. The label beside its name shows whether it affects calculations, chart appearance or data.
South Indian / North IndianAppearance
Two traditional ways to draw chart.
- What changes
- In the southern scheme, the benchmark is the immovable places of signs, in the northern - houses. The calculated positions from the design itself do not change.
- When to use it
- Start with your course scheme and check signatures to avoid reading the number of the mark as a house number.
VargaCalculation
A fragment chart, redistributing the position according to the rules of a specific division of the sign. D1 is the output of Rush; others are derivative chart methods.
- What changes
- The choice changes the shown fracture chart, not the date of birth. Different Ds have their own rules; it is not just an image enlargement.
- When to use it
- Start with D1, then add varga to the desired topic by course. High divisions are especially sensitive to position near boundaries and time accuracy.
Available options
- D1 Rashi
- Weekend Chart .
- D2 Hora
- Traditional theme of resources.
- D3 Drekkana
- Theme of brothers and sisters.
- D4 Chaturthamsha
- Theme of Mayn.
- D7 Saptamsha

- D27 Bhamsha

- D30 Trimshamsha

- D40 Khavedamsha
- Following the rules of tradition.
- D45 Akshavedamsha
- Very good signs.
- D60 Shashtyamsha
- A profound division of tradition.
AyanamshaCalculation
The angular offset between the tropical zodiac and a particular sidereal zodiac. Different schools define different origins, so “sidereal” alone is not enough to reproduce a chart.
- What changes
- Available after selecting Sidereal. Changing the ayanamsha recalculates sidereal longitudes. Near boundaries, the sign, nakshatra, varga and initial dasha balance may change.
- When to use it
- Start with Lahiri unless your teaching method requires another ayanamsha. When comparing with a colleague, check the ayanamsha, date and node mode. The Vedic and Periods screens have their own ayanamsha selectors; check those separately.
Available options
- Lahiri
- Zorya Astro’s default, for reproducing Lahiri calculations.
- Raman
- B. V. Raman’s variant, with its own offset.
- Krishnamurti
- For methods that explicitly require this variant, including KP.
- Fagan–Bradley
- A separate standard in the Western sidereal tradition.
- Yukteshwar
- The Swiss Ephemeris definition for this school.
- True Chitra
- Spica is anchored at 0° Libra.
- Galactic center at 0° Sagittarius
- The coordinate origin is anchored to the Galactic Center.
The field is disabled in Tropical mode. A greyed-out field is expected because this offset is not applied in that mode.

Link to this controlNodes: Mean / TrueCalculation
Two models of position Rahu; Ketu is opposite to the chosen node.
- What changes
- The middle smoothes the movement, the true takes into account its fluctuations. Varga and position near the boundaries of nakshatra can change.
- When to use it
- Select the model given by the course; for comparison with another program, specify it explicitly.
Bhavas: Sripati / Equal from lagna / Chart cuspsCalculation
Method to determine the centers and boundaries of houses in the Sandhi table.
- What changes
- Shripathi and levels from lagna build corresponding bhai, "cusps chart" uses the chart system chart. Possible difference between the sign of the planet and the number of bhai.
- When to use it
- Do not confuse the bhava with the cell of the sign in Rash; check the table of the beginning, center and end of the house.
Grahas / L L′ L″ L‴ / Panchanga / AshtakavargaAppearance
graha — planets of the Vedic table; L and strings — rulers nakshatra and inserted subdirectors. panchanga gives five calendar indicators, ashtakavarga — scores by signs.
- What changes
- These are different quantities derived from the coordinates. A pada is one quarter of a nakshatra; vargottama indicates the same sign in D1 and D9.
- When to use it
- For check take the same Ahaamsha and nod. scores ashtakavarga are not percentages of life luck.
The result
Chart and tables are listed according to the selected Vedic system.
Worked example
This is a teaching example; results for your chart may differ.
- Situation
- You want to compare Rush and Navash.
- What to do
- Select one Ayaamsha, look at D1 and D9 and compare the graha tables.
- How to read the result
- varga is different transformations of the same starting positions; a change in the style of the drawing does not change the data itself.
For professional practice
Combines varga, rulers nakshatra, bhava and calendar indicators, helping to compare several components of one method.
What to check for a precise comparison
To play the result, you need ayeamsha, node type and bhav method. Small varga can be sensitive to the accuracy of the starting time.
Keep in mind
For comparison with other calculations, refer to Ayaamsha, the node and the method of Bhav. The Wimshottari Periods are opened separately in the "Periodes".
