Astrocartography, parans and Local Space
Explore the chart lines on the world map.
Screenshots show the Ukrainian app interface. The English guide describes the same controls.
What it is and why it matters
Astrocartography carries the geometry of the chart to the Earth map: it shows where the planets are linked to local angles, and allows you to explore other layers of space. This is a way to compare places according to the rules of the chosen method.
When to use it
- To familiarize with the geographical dimension chart.
- To select the city for a detailed view of the relocation.
Terms explained
- Asc and MC
- The Ascendant (Asc) is associated with the intersection of the ecliptic and the eastern horizon. The Midheaven (MC) is associated with the upper part of the local meridian. Both depend on time and location.
- Relocation
- Casting a chart for a different location at the same universal moment. The observation location changes; the event’s actual date does not.
- Paran
- A combination of the angular positions of two celestial bodies in local daily motion. On a map, these relationships are examined in connection with latitude.
Where to find it
The “Astrocartography” button with a globe in the top panel.
How to use it
- Open the chart and press the globe.
- Select projection and scale. In layers, enable the lines of planets, zenith, parans, local space, cyclocartography or cities.
- Set planets, angles and the In mundo or zodiac method.
- Find a city or click on a point on the map to preview the relocation.
Settings and options
Select an option to learn how it works and when to use it. The label beside its name shows whether it affects calculations, chart appearance or data.
Find city / click map / BirthplaceData
Select a location for local viewing and relocation.
- What changes
- The city sets known coordinates; the click selects a point. "Mastery" returns the reference place.
- When to use it
- To compare specific cities use the atlas; for a preliminary view — a map.
Projection: Mercator / EquirectangularAppearance
Transfer of the spherical Earth to a flat map.
- What changes
- Changes the shape and scale of the image, especially near the poles. Does not change the coordinates of astrological lines.
- When to use it
- For viewing different widths; the visible distance on the screen depends on the projection.
Zoom in / Zoom out / World mapAppearance
The scale of viewing and return to the world view.
- What changes
- Increases the detail of the image, not the accuracy of the search grid.
- When to use it
- Once you find the region, move it closer; “All map” will restore the orientation.
Method: In mundo / ZodiacalCalculation
Two definitions of angular lines: by the real spatial position of the body or by its zodiac projection.
- What changes
- The body latitude can cause a difference in lines; these are different geometric models.
- When to use it
- Choose a model of the methodology and name it when comparing maps.
Planet linesAppearance
It shows the main angular trajectories of astrocarotography.
- What changes
- On: the lines are visible; off: the layer is hidden. There are other active balls.
- When to use it
- For the study of angular locations; if the map is empty, check also the planets and angles.
Planet zenithsAppearance
Shows the subplanetary points where the planets are at the zenith.
- What changes
- This option shows or hides individual markers, rather than the entire MC meridian.
- When to use it
- To match points directly above a place with a wider angle line.
ParansAppearance
A series of simultaneous angular relationships of two bodies in the day movement.
- What changes
- On: corresponding latitude bonds are displayed; off: layer hidden.
- When to use it
- For the parans method; in a local outcome, estimate proximity to the latitude of the city.
Local SpaceAppearance
The planets are directed from the point of reference beyond the local horizon.
- What changes
- This option shows or hides a separate layer of directions. It differs from a standard Asc/MC line.
- When to use it
- To study directions from a specific place; be sure to check the point of reference.
Cyclocartography / RingCalculation
The line of the selected predictive circle at the background moment.
- What changes
- Enable the layer and choose a technique from the Ring list. The list is available when the corresponding forecast ring is open.
- When to use it
- Add the desired circle and check the background date before reading that layer as a forecast.
CitiesAppearance
Geographical indications of settlements.
- What changes
- Enabled: the landmarks are visible; disabled: the map is less loaded. The line calculation does not change.
- When to use it
- For orientation and location selection; turn off with a large number of over-the-top signatures.
Planets / Angles / All / NoneAppearance
What bodies and types of angular lines to show: Asc, Dsc, MC and IC.
- What changes
- The disabled buttons remove the corresponding lines. This is a map filter, not the data removal from the chart.
- When to use it
- Leave one planet and one angle for study; then add the necessary comparisons.
The result
The map will show the selected lines and data for a specific location.
Worked example
This is a teaching example; results for your chart may differ.
- Situation
- You compare two cities within one study.
- What to do
- Leave the planets and corners you need, find cities and see each relocation.
- How to read the result
- A line is a geometric condition of the chart; further analysis is required to assess a city, not just proximity to the line.
For professional practice
Layers of angular lines, parans, Local Space and cyclocartography allow for separate spatial assumptions.
What to check for a precise comparison
Do not mix the In mundo and zodiac method. To compare, keep the same moment and consciously choose the layer and set of points.
Keep in mind
Cyclocartography uses the background date and selected circle. The network is required for the first download of geographic resources.
