Backup and restore
Move the browser database to another device or save a copy before changes.

What it is and why it matters
Backup creates a portable file of your database. It is needed to recover after the loss of browser data and to move work to another device.
When to use it
- Before mass import, edit or clean the browser.
- When you move to another computer, profile or domain.
Where to find it
Chart → “Safe copy...” / “Restaur from copy...”
How to use it
- Press “Safe copy”. Wait until the .zoria-backup.json file is downloaded and save it to the selected location.
- To move, open Star in another browser or device and click on "Restaur from copy...".
- Select the file and check the date of the copy and the number of chart. Read the warning if chart is smaller than in the current database.
- Confirm the recovery. Check the chart, database structure and photos.
Settings and options
Select an option to learn how it works and when to use it. The label beside its name shows whether it affects calculations, chart appearance or data.
BackupAction
It downloads the database data to the Zorya Astro backup file format.
- What changes
- The browser downloads the file; it is a copy at the time of creation that is not updated automatically.
- When to use it
- Save before large imports, changes to the cartography, cleaning storage and switching to another browser.
Restore / confirm a smaller backupAction
Loads the selected database archive and shows its date and number of records.
- What changes
- Restoring replaces the active dataset with the backup; it does not simply add missing records. If the backup contains fewer charts, review the confirmation particularly carefully.
- When to use it
- First, upload a separate copy of the current state. In the web version after restore, roll out several chart and database structures.
The result
A backup will save portable database data; a web copy also includes saved photos.

- Create a copy, save it outside of the browser and restore it on a new device.

- After you restore, scroll the number of charts, structure and photos before you continue.
For professional practice
It allows you to record the state of the cartotest before changing methodological data or large transfer.
What to check for a precise comparison
Recovery is not a merger of two independently modified databases. Check the date and number of records and consider AI keys and desktop tracks separately.
Keep in mind
AI provider keys are not included in the backup. They need to be added separately.
Desktop copy with the very paths to photos requires separate photo transfer. No automatic cloud synchronization.
