Aspect details: orb and motion
Open the numerical details of an aspect from the wheel, grid or conjunction table.
Screenshots show the Ukrainian app interface. The English guide describes the same controls.
What it is and why it matters
Open the numerical details of an aspect from the wheel, grid or conjunction table.
When to use it
- When an aspect is visible on the wheel but you need its precise orb.
- When checking a contact between the natal chart and a forecast ring.
Terms explained
- Aspect
- An angular relationship between two chart points that matches an angle enabled in the calculation, such as a 90° square.
- Orb
- The permitted deviation from an exact aspect angle. A wider orb includes more contacts and extends the periods during which they are considered active.
- Applying and separating aspects
- The angle between two points is approaching or moving away from exactness. Retrograde motion can produce several exact passes of the same aspect.
- Exact aspect
- The moment when the deviation from the specified aspect angle reaches zero.
Where to find it
An aspect on the wheel; Planets → aspect grid or Conjunctions; Overview → Conjunctions.
How to use it
- Click an aspect or pair of objects. Aspect details opens above the tables in the right panel.
- Check the objects, exact angle, actual orb, allowed orb and motion. For a cross-chart aspect, also check the names of both rings.
- Close the panel with its cross or Escape. Focus returns to the control that opened it; changing the chart or ring clears the selected aspect.
Settings and options
Select an option to learn how it works and when to use it. The label beside its name shows whether it affects calculations, chart appearance or data.
Aspect details: orb and motionAction
Open the numerical details of an aspect from the wheel, grid or conjunction table.
- What changes
- Check the objects, exact angle, actual orb, allowed orb and motion. For a cross-chart aspect, also check the names of both rings.
- When to use it
- Close the panel with its cross or Escape. Focus returns to the control that opened it; changing the chart or ring clears the selected aspect.
The result
You can see the tolerance that includes the aspect and whether it is approaching the exact angle.
Worked example
This is a teaching example; results for your chart may differ.
- Situation
- An example aspect has an actual orb of 4°20′ and an allowance of 8°30′.
- What to do
- Check the objects, exact angle, actual orb, allowed orb and motion. For a cross-chart aspect, also check the names of both rings.
- How to read the result
- The contact is within the allowance; its motion label separately indicates whether the deviation is shrinking.
For professional practice
Check the actual allowance for the specific pair, as well as the aspect-page name.
