Input data and time accuracy
Select local time, UT, calendar and technical calculation parameters.
Screenshots show the Ukrainian app interface. The English guide describes the same controls.
What it is and why it matters
This is a passport of calculation: the data from which the program built the chart, and the time basis of the result. It is required to check the chart before interpretation.
When to use it
- When you enter the time and correction.
- When the result is different from the source or other program.
Terms explained
- UT, UTC and time offset
- Universal time provides a common time basis for calculations. The UTC offset converts local clock time to that basis; do not apply it twice.
Where to find it
The right panel is “Data”.
How to use it
- Select "Data" after opening or editing the chart.
- Check the date, time, location, coordinates and time zone. For historical imported records, also reference the calendar with the source.
- Compare world time, Julian day and ΔT with expected values. To correct, click the pencil in the top panel.
Settings and options
Select an option to learn how it works and when to use it. The label beside its name shows whether it affects calculations, chart appearance or data.
Local time / Universal time / OffsetAppearance
Local time is the recording of the clock at the place of the event; UT is the common time base; the shift links these two records.
- What changes
- The manual shift has a corresponding mark. "Belt of calculation" shows the applied rule that is worth checking for historical sites.
- When to use it
- If the chart differs by hours, start with this three; correct the source in the data chart.
Time reliabilityAppearance
Assessment of the source of historical time correction: documented, probable or uncertain.
- What changes
- This is information about the rules of the clock on the date and place, not confirmation of the accuracy of the time of birth.
- When to use it
- “Uncertain” needs to verify the historical standard by source, even if the family record of time seems accurate.
Julian day / ΔT / Sidereal timeAppearance
Julian day is a continuous count of days; ΔT is the difference between the TT and UT scales; star time describes the orientation of the local meridian relative to the sky.
- What changes
- These are the results of calculation. They do not need to be entered instead of the clock time in the birth form.
- When to use it
- For technical swirling of ephemeris, angles and historical calculations; compare the same time scales.
Zodiac / Ayanamsha / House system / Positions / Coordinates / AltitudeAppearance
Summary of the actually applied chart parameters, including the type of coordinates and the location of observation.
- What changes
- These rows show what is calculated; you need to change the available parameters in form or settings.
- When to use it
- Add this information to a professional comparison: the same name and date chart do not yet guarantee the same calculation.
The result
You can check which input data the chart is built on.
Worked example
This is a teaching example; results for your chart may differ.
- Situation
- Two programs show a different Ascendent.
- What to do
- Compare UT and coordinates, and then the system houses.
- How to read the result
- If the world moments are different, the reason may be in the belt, not in the formula houses.
For professional practice
Helps to audit the source data and separate time errors from methodological differences.
What to check for a precise comparison
Julian day is a continuous number of the moment, not the name of the Julian calendar. ΔT is a parameter of the time scale, not a manual correction of the time zone.
Keep in mind
ΔT and star time are the results of the calculation; they do not need to be entered instead of the local birth time.
