Graphic ephemeris
Compare the movement of planets in different angular scales.
Screenshots show the Ukrainian app interface. The English guide describes the same controls.
What it is and why it matters
Graphic ephemeris draw the movement of planets by lines: the speed of change of coordinates, twists and intersection is visible. The change of the angle scale allows you to consider related aspects together.
When to use it
- For a clear study of movement and retrograde.
- To look at contacts over years or decades.
Terms explained
- Ephemeris
- Positions and other parameters of celestial bodies at specified times. Tables show them in rows; graphs show lines of motion.
- Harmonic
- A transformation that multiplies longitudes by a chosen number and reduces them to the circle. It helps examine particular angular relationships together.
- Exact aspect
- The moment when the deviation from the specified aspect angle reaches zero.
Where to find it
Graphics → “Graphic ephemeris”.
How to use it
- Set the beginning and period; select transits, progressions or directions.
- Select the coordinate and scale. Try 90° or 45° to find hard aspects.
- Turn on the desired planets, natal positions and houses.
- Press the chart for the aspect line; a re-click deletes it.
Settings and options
Select an option to learn how it works and when to use it. The label beside its name shows whether it affects calculations, chart appearance or data.
Period: 3 days / Month / Year / 10 / 30 / 60 / 120 yearsCalculation
The length of the movement.
- What changes
- The arrows move the window; long scales are convenient for slow cycles, short ones for fast movement.
- When to use it
- On a long chart, check the chosen method and avoid conclusions about the exact time behind the pixel line.
Type: Transits / Progressions / DirectionsCalculation
Construction of line of movement.
- What changes
- The same body has a different curve by different symbolic methods.
- When to use it
- Name the type together with the chart, especially when viewing several techniques together.
CoordinateCalculation
longitude - position along the ecliptic; latitude - deviation from it; declination - from the equator; straight ascension - equatorial count; speed - change in longitude for days.
- What changes
- Changes the value on the horizontal axis. Angular tabs are only available for corresponding coordinates.
- When to use it
- For ordinary aspects, start with longitude, for parallels - with declination, for stations - with speed.
Scale: 360° / 90° / 60° / 45° / 30°Appearance
Full circuit or its folding by the module of the chosen angle.
- What changes
- At 90° conjunction, squares and opposition can coincide in coordinates; at 45° - also semi-quadrants. The cross line on the folded scale is not always a conjunction.
- When to use it
- To find groups of aspects; check the exact type of connection for the initial longitude.
Natal planetsAppearance
It adds the fixed orientations of planets of the radix.
- What changes
- On: visible crossings of moving lines from natal; off: moving lines remain.
- When to use it
- Use this to compare movement with natal positions. The option adds natal reference lines without changing the forecast date.
Natal housesAppearance
Showing streams of the original weekend chart.
- What changes
- Available on a full 360° angle scale. Off – the stripes are removed; the houses system remains the same.
- When to use it
- To examine the passage of planets through natal sectors.
Moving planetsCalculation
Planets of predictive technique, the movement of which is compared to the radis.
- What changes
- The button on enables the planet, the off shuts off. “All” and “No” change the entire set. Moon gives a lot of short contacts.
- When to use it
- For longer cycles, start with slow planets; add Moon to study short intervals.
Aspect ruler / click / double-clickAction
A click sets a landmark with aspects marks from the chosen coordinate; a repeat click removes it.
- What changes
- Double click opens the chart of the appropriate moment. In this chart time goes upwards downwards.
- When to use it
- For quick matching of several lines, then checking a specific chart.
The result
Time goes from top to bottom, coordinate from left to right; lines show the movement of points.
Worked example
This is a teaching example; results for your chart may differ.
- Situation
- You are exploring the hard aspects of several slow planets.
- What to do
- Select the longitude and scale of 90°, then check the interesting intersection on the regular circuit.
- How to read the result
- On a 90-degree scale, different types of aspects are imposed; the crossover needs to be deciphered to name a specific angle.
For professional practice
Scales, coordinates and natal reference lines provide a compact overview of long cycles and help to form hypotheses for accurate search.
What to check for a precise comparison
Do not equate the visual intersection to the verified exacte: specify the date and type of aspect by separate calculation.
Keep in mind
On the 90° conjunction scale, squares and opposition coincide in intersection; the 45° scale adds semi-quadrates.
