Stations, ingresses and the void-of-course Moon

Find astrological events in the selected time.

What it is and why it matters

Astrotables collect events of planetary movement: change of direction, transition of the boundary of a sign or house, aspects and intervals of the Moon without course. This is a calendar of facts of calculation for selected rules.

When to use it

  • To prepare a list of stations or ingresses for the period.
  • When you need the boundaries of the Moon without a course by a particular tradition.
Terms explained
Retrograde motion and stations
Retrograde motion is the apparent backward motion of a planet in longitude. A station is the moment this motion changes direction. The tables use R and S markers.
Ingress
A planet crossing the boundary of a sign or selected house. It is the boundary-crossing event rather than the entire time spent in a sector.
Void-of-course Moon
An interval defined by the selected rule for the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs. The included planets and rule can change the interval boundaries.

Where to find it

The “AstroTables”.

How to use it

  1. Set the period and open the tab “Stations”, “ingresses”, “Moon without course” or “Aspects”.
  2. In stations select planets; if necessary enable declination events. In ingresses choose transition through signs or houses natal chart.
  3. For Moon without course, select the rule and set of planets. For aspects you can leave only Moon.
  4. View the time of events and open the available chart or export table.

Settings and options

Select an option to learn how it works and when to use it. The label beside its name shows whether it affects calculations, chart appearance or data.

Period: Month / Year / 10 years / CustomCalculation

Time limits where the table or chart is looking for events. Available options depend on the screen.

What changes
Earlier/later buttons shift the entire period. Custom enables From and To. A longer period increases the amount of calculation.
When to use it
Start with the month for a quick review. To study rare events, expand the range; turn the time zone into the headline.

From / ToData

Beginning and end of the period, in the format of the date interface.

What changes
Set search boundaries, not a new date of birth. End should be later than the beginning; wrong boundaries need to be fixed.
When to use it
Use it to compare with a particular section of the event journal.

Stations / Ingresses / Void-of-course Moon / AspectsCalculation

Individual types of events: stop and change of direction; cross-limit; intervals according to the Moon rule; precise angle contacts.

What changes
Selecting the tab changes the task and available filters.
When to use it
First, determine what event you are looking for: the planet's presence in the sign and the moment of entering it are different things.

Moving planetsCalculation

Planets of predictive technique, the movement of which is compared to the radis.

What changes
The button on enables the planet, the off shuts off. “All” and “No” change the entire set. Moon gives a lot of short contacts.
When to use it
For longer cycles, start with slow planets; add Moon to study short intervals.

Aspects: Major / All / NoneCalculation

Choose the angular bonds that are needed in the current research.

What changes
"Major" leaves the main aspects, "All" includes all available set, individual buttons change a specific angle. orb sets the applied aspect profile.
When to use it
The beginner is convenient to start with the major: conjunction 0°, sextile 60°, square 90°, trigon 120°, opposition 180°. Add other angles according to the methodology.

Ingresses: Signs / Natal housesCalculation

The boundary that a moving planet must cross.

What changes
"Signs" checks the 30-degree sectors of the zodiac; "houses natal chart" is a fixed cusps of the radix. The "Retro" mark explains the reverse entry.
When to use it
Home ingresses require precise time and coordinated houses system.

DeclinationCalculation

Adds to the stations for longitude events movement for declination.

What changes
Enabled: maxima, minima declination and equator crossings; off: only main stations.
When to use it
For the techniques of inclination. Maximum declination is not identical to the station of retrograde movement.

Void-of-course Moon: From the last aspect / Horary ruleCalculation

The method of determining the last relevant aspect before changing a sign.

What changes
The horary option only takes into account the aspect that becomes accurate before the change of a sign by any participant. Another rule can give other limits.
When to use it
For horary work, clearly specify the rule; different programs can have different limits without an ephemeris error.

Seven traditional planets onlyCalculation

It limits the Moon partners with traditional planets to Saturn.

What changes
Enabled: contacts with Uranus, Neptune and Pluto do not define this list; enabled: the set is wider. The boundaries of "no course" may change.
When to use it
Turn on for the traditional set; align your status with your school’s rule.

Moon onlyCalculation

Special filter of current aspects and ingresses Moon.

What changes
Enabled: short monthly list; off: a wider set is used.
When to use it
Use this for a daily lunar journal. If other planets disappear from the list, check whether Moon only is enabled.

The result

The table will show the found events according to your rules.

Worked example

This is a teaching example; results for your chart may differ.

Situation
You want to check when Mercury changes its direction.
What to do
Open the stations, leave Mercury and set the right year.
How to read the result
The lines will show the moments of change of motion; consider the retrograde interval itself between the corresponding stations.

For professional practice

The single interface allows you to compare different types of events and prepare verified lists of dates.

What to check for a precise comparison

For Moon without course, fix the rule and set of planets; for ingresses in houses, accuracy is important.

Keep in mind

"From the last aspect" and the horary rule of Moon without course give different limits. The chosen rule should be noted when transmitting results.
