What it is and why it matters

The menu groups the tools by tasks, and the palette finds them by name. You don’t need to remember the location of each button to go to the desired calculation.

When to use it

  • When you know the name of the technique, but you don’t know the interface yet.
  • When you repeat one route often during work.

Where to find it

Top panel: “Tables”, “Graphics”, “Techniques”, “Search”; palette of teams.

How to use it

  1. Click the icon of the desired group in the top panel and select the screen from the menu. Pull the cursor to the icon to read the name.
  2. To find a command, press Cmd+K (⌘K) on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux and enter its name. Select an available result and press Enter.
  3. Open the keyboard shortcuts list with Cmd+/ (⌘/) or Ctrl+/. Press F4 to open the chart type selector.
  4. Close the current screen with its closing button or the "Return to chart" command. Esc closes the pop-up windows.

Search charts / Tags / Show databaseAppearance

Search in the left panel and additional restrictions by tag and base.

What changes
Name, tag and base together narrow the list. The filter does not delete records; “All” returns a wider set.
When to use it
If you don’t see the chart, clear the text, return all tags and check the database.

The result

The selected function opens for the current chart.

Worked example

This is a teaching example; results for your chart may differ.

Situation
You want to find a lunar calendar.
What to do
Open the palette and enter its name; then compare this path from the Table menu.
How to read the result
Search will help you find a function now, and the menu group will remember its location.

For professional practice

Reduces switching between circles, tables and special methods; searching by ZET names makes it easier to switch from a familiar program.

What to check for a precise comparison

The palette may contain a description of an unavailable command. Focus on the ability to perform it and the marked state.

Keep in mind

Unavailable palette results may describe planned possibilities. They do not perform.

Some combinations are intercepted by a browser or operating system. In this case, use the button in the interface. For F-key on Mac you may need fn.
