Importing from ZET and transferring photos
Transfer records from .zbs, DBase folder or text buffer exchange.
Screenshots show the Ukrainian app interface. The English guide describes the same controls.
What it is and why it matters
Imports transfer the saved file from ZET to Star. A pre-view is required to see the problem dates, unknown time, duplicates and photo availability before recording new data.
When to use it
- During the transition from ZET.
- When you have received a compatible set of training chart or your own old base.
Terms explained
- UT, UTC and time offset
- Universal time provides a common time basis for calculations. The UTC offset converts local clock time to that basis; do not apply it twice.
Where to find it
Base chart → «Import from ZET...».
How to use it
- Select Import and choose .zbs files or a folder containing databases. To include photos, select a folder that also contains Photo.
- In the preview, check the number of records and comments about time, correction, calendar and unread lines.
- Select the structure "Like in ZET" or one target base. Set a copy of duplicate and copying found photos.
- Click “Import” and summarize. Open several chart to check.
- For text, use “Input ZET Text”. Re-export is available through “Export to ZET...” and “Copy as ZET Text”.
Settings and options
Select an option to learn how it works and when to use it. The label beside its name shows whether it affects calculations, chart appearance or data.
Import ZET / Paste ZETAction

- When to use it
- Do not import unchecked historical rows together with working rows without reviewing the reasons for warning.
As in ZET: one database per file in DBase folders / Into one databaseData
Where to read recordings.
- What changes
- The structure mode creates the corresponding maps; the single base mode gathers everything to the chosen goal. The target list is active only in the second mode.
- When to use it
- For a multi-set archive, it is convenient to save the structure; for a small addition, select the work base.
Skip records already in Zorya AstroData
Compare records according to the rules of detection of import duplicates.
- What changes
- Enabled: Recognized repeats are skipped; Disabled: Repeat records may be added. Identical names do not always mean identical chart.
- When to use it
- Leave on when re-importing; after the result, count the number of added and missed.
Copy found photosData
Try to move available related images along with the records.
- What changes
- Enabled: includes available photos; disabled: import without copying them. In the web version, access to original local files is limited to user-selected files.
- When to use it
- After moving, open the check-up photo; the path reference does not guarantee the presence of the file in the browser.
Import / CancelAction
Confirm the selected lines and target structure or close the preview.
- What changes
- The summary reports the number of added, missed and problematic records.
- When to use it
- Before confirmation, scroll the target and make a backup of the existing work base.
The result
Applicable entries will appear in the database; photos will be saved in the browser if they were found and copying is selected.
Worked example
This is a teaching example; results for your chart may differ.
- Situation
- You have a DBase with chart and a separate Photo folder.
- What to do
- Select the database and photo folder, check the warnings and import a small sample for the swing.
- How to read the result
- Compare time, correction, several chart and photo before moving the entire cartotheque.
For professional practice
Keeping the structure and relationships of events reduces manual transfer; warnings allow you to control the quality of conversion.
What to check for a precise comparison
ZET corrections may already take into account summer or local average time. Specifically, check historical dates and records with unknown time.
Keep in mind
The ZET correction is kept as a fixed shift and may already contain summer or local average time.
Unknown time can be imported as noon; check for comments. No date or coordinates record is not imported.
Export ZET uses Windows-1251; characters outside this table can be replaced by "?", as the program reports.
