Lunar calendar and daily details
View the lunar days, phases, parking, stairs and planetary hours.

What it is and why it matters
The lunar calendar combines phases, lunar days and local events days. It is needed when your practice uses the lunar cycle and it is important to see when its state changes.
When to use it
- For daily study observation of the Moon.
- For working with lunar days, stairs and planetary hours.
Terms explained
- Void-of-course Moon
- An interval defined by the selected rule for the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs. The included planets and rule can change the interval boundaries.
- UT, UTC and time offset
- Universal time provides a common time basis for calculations. The UTC offset converts local clock time to that basis; do not apply it twice.

How to use it
- Select a month and check the location for which the calendar is being built.
- Choose the method of counting the monthly days: from the east of the Moon or every 12°. For the east, specify the edge or center of the disk.
- Switch between Moon and Journal. Press the day for details: sky, phase, east/west and planetary hours.
- Compare the Moon markings without course, parking and moon house; export the table if necessary.
Settings and options
Select an option to learn how it works and when to use it. The label beside its name shows whether it affects calculations, chart appearance or data.
Period: Month / Year / 10 years / CustomCalculation
Time limits where the table or chart is looking for events. Available options depend on the screen.
- What changes
- Earlier/later buttons shift the entire period. Custom enables From and To. A longer period increases the amount of calculation.
- When to use it
- Start with the month for a quick review. To study rare events, expand the range; turn the time zone into the headline.
Lunar days: From moonrise (Globa) / 12 degreesCalculation
There are two ways to distinguish the lunar days: by local stairs or by the Moon-Sun angle.
- What changes
- The stairs depend on the location; the angle variant changes the day after every 12° extension. One calendar date can have different numbers according to these methods.
- When to use it
- Choose by the source of the calendar you are talking to; this is different definitions, not a numbering error.
Rise: Upper limb / Disk center / Geometric centerCalculation
It is the crossover of the Moon horizon.
- What changes
- The upper edge and center are different points of the disk; the geometric variant separates the geometry from the visible east with corrections. This affects the time of the local beginning of the lunar day.
- When to use it
- Leave the top edge for the normal visible outlook; for technical comparison set the same definition.
Month / Journal / Today / calendar dayAction
The calendar gives an overview, the journal – the exact boundaries of the monthly days; the click of the day opens its details.
- What changes
- “Today” returns the current period. The “Moment” field in details selects the time within days.
- When to use it
- For the exact time of transition, use a journal or details, not just a number in a cell.
Lunar mansion / Volguine house / Planetary hours / Chart of the momentAppearance
The Volguine station and house in the cell are given at noon; details include east, west, culminations and uneven planetary hours.
- What changes
- The planetary hours divide the day and night segments separately, so they are not obliged to last 60 minutes. In polar days may be unavailable.
- When to use it
- Check the selected place and time. "Stop" of this calendar is not automatically a Vedic nakshatra.
The result
The calendar will show the local boundaries of the monthly days and events of the selected days.

- Situation
- In the two calendars, the number of the moon day is different.
- What to do
- Turn the city and the method of reference: from the east of Moon or at a angle of 12°.
- How to read the result
- The difference can be a result of different rules, especially near the local day limit.

Calendar, journal and day details allow you to move from a month review to exact local boundaries and events.
What to check for a precise comparison
Do not mix phases, monthly days and parking: these are different values. Fix the location and method of calculating the east.
Keep in mind
Parking and house Volguine in the cage are given at noon. On the polar latitudes of the east or west may not be, which is reflected in the details of the day.
